I realize most everything amazing happens on Greenville (shameless, I know) but every so often, things pop up around town that I simply cannot avoid divulging. Among the many wondrous stores that Henderson has freshly sprouted, there's one called The Wooden House, a place that feels just as delightfully cozy as the name sounds.
As Steve toured me through the store, I was given a little history brief and/or personal story about each piece (and I might mention it's a fairly large lot). Little did I know, giant yet delicate hand carved bookshelves have the most beautiful stories to tell. Antique knobs and handles reveal the warmth of time and touch while weathered wood seems to have an exotic, sage-like demeanor. And the quilts! The quilts! Unbelievably exquisite colors with millions of the most minute, painstaking stitch create a tantalizing textile. You owe it to your eyes to walk in this store. Steve and his sidekick Cayden are pretty easy on the eyes too...
To make things even more tempting, a new shipment from Indonesia just hit The Wooden House last week. While you'll find a lot of the new delights in the store, the warehouse will be open to the public today, April 12, and Thursday, April 15. For all of us plebes who aren't so savvy in the industry, going to the warehouse is quite a treat. Believe me, you'll want to get lost in this furniture forest! Call the store to make an appointment (214 823 0002).
AND, to make things even more dazzling, Stella & Dot will be unveiling their spring/summer 2010 collection at The Wooden House Wednesday, April 14 6-8:30 pm.
